What would you do if you knew today was your last day on earth? Would you cry? Would you lash out? Would you throw a party? These answers are explored through monologues, songs and walls of dialogue.
In this concept musical we explore what relates us through time and what kind of impact we leave on the world. We bring light to the emotions we feel when things are out of our control. Something we can all relate to right now. What do we do when tragic things happen? How do we want to be remembered if it was up to us? What can we do when it isn't? There's a line in one song: "I'm more than just the words on the wall and the shape that my body made," relating to how we only know the people of Pompeii by their bodies when they died. We don't see them, just the shadows they cast.

About the Music
We wanted buried to feel like you’re at a rock concert. Originally performed with a guitarist (acoustic+electric), bass guitarist, drummer and pianist, it feels acoustic and raw. There are two different categories of song for buried. One being songs that were bassline driven, with the groove being the most important part of the song ex: False God, In for the Kill, Try Me On. The others were built from guitar picking patterns that felt like old school Simon and Garfunkel and Jim Croce folk music ex: Dear Love, Poison, Fly Home. With the lack of a full orchestra, harmony became a big part of the show- adding in color and texture to songs that would usually be lifted by orchestration. The song Dear Love has the entire ensemble singing their own part, going into about a 7 part harmony with a round. The recordings that can be found in our album Introducing: Berkson and Malina are fully orchestrated with help from Alex Arlotta and match my original vision when I was writing the songs. The show can be done with an expandable pit with a 4 piece minimum.
